For most of my life, I was devoutly Catholic. Baptized. Confirmed. Loyal. I loved the pageantry, the discipline, the ancient rhythms. The Church felt like home — until I started asking questions.

• Why does the Bible say salvation is by grace through faith, but Rome says it’s through the sacraments?

• Why does Scripture say Jesus is the only mediator, yet the Church exalts Mary as a co-redeemer?

• Why does the New Testament say there’s one spiritual priesthood — but Catholicism insists on a priestly caste?

No Catholicism priest could give me straight answers. The Catechism dodged the questions. The deeper I dug, the more I discovered how much had been buried.

It was about control. Control through guilt. Control through rituals. Control through fear of “leaving the one true Church.”

But the true gospel isn’t a prison. It’s freedom.
